Curriculum

At Step Ahead Primary School, we take pride in delivering high-quality education through an English-medium curriculum designed to meet international standards.

STEP AHEAD

Pre-Primary

Our pre-primary curriculum, rooted in the British Early Years framework, provides a nurturing and loving environment where children flourish personally, socially, and emotionally under the dedicated care of our teachers. Recognising the crucial role of sensory exploration in early development, we integrate a wealth of hands-on sensory activities that stimulate curiosity and enhance learning.

We foster early literacy skills through the engaging Jolly Phonics program, complemented by thoughtfully selected Montessori-inspired activities that encourage independence and exploration. Embracing the principles of Forest School, we prioritise outdoor learning, ensuring children spend a significant portion of their day connecting with nature and developing a lifelong love for the environment.

STEP AHEAD

Primary

Step Ahead’s primary section, as an English medium school, delivers a comprehensive education by thoughtfully combining the British National Curriculum with the Mauritian educational framework. Recognising the profound benefits of connecting with nature, we embrace an approach influenced by Forest School principles, ensuring ample opportunities for outdoor learning and exploration.

This fosters a deep appreciation for the environment, encourages physical activity, and enhances problem-solving skills. Inside the classroom, we use flexible seating to prioritise student comfort and create dynamic learning spaces that cater to individual needs. We also place significant emphasis on Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education to nurture well-rounded, responsible individuals, and offer a diverse range of extracurricular activities that broaden horizons and cultivate individual talents.

STEP AHEAD

Extra-curricular

Beyond the classroom, Step Ahead offers a vibrant array of extracurricular activities designed to enrich each child’s learning journey. We believe in the importance of both physical and creative pursuits, which is why swimming and music lessons are integral parts of our program for all primary students.

Additionally, a wide selection of clubs caters to diverse interests, including karate, dance, cooking, nature arts, board games, and many more, providing opportunities for students to explore their passions and develop new skills. To further enhance learning and create memorable experiences, we regularly organise both educational and non-educational field trips throughout the year.
